The City of Walnut would like to recognize our community’s military men and women by placing banners with our local heroes’ names on them. The banners are located on the City’s streets including La Puente Road and Lemon Avenue. Since 2003, we have recognized more than 120 men and women.
To qualify, honorees must meet the following requirements:
- Active duty member of the U.S. armed forces; and
- Current Walnut resident; or
- Have immediate family residing in Walnut
(Immediate family= Wife/Husband, Son/Daughter, Grandson/Granddaughter, Aunt/Uncle)
**Annual verification of active duty status will be required. Banners are limited per fiscal year budget. Reordering a banner, such as a last name change or any other circumstance, will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a fee.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Banner installations are scheduled for May and November of each year.
Deadlines:
February 15 for May installation
July 1 for November installation
