Commission Facts
The City of Walnut currently has four Commissions: the Planning Commission, the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Senior Commission and the Youth Commission.  Commission appointments are made annually by the City Council.  The City maintains an Annual Appointment List in accordance with the City’s Municipal Code and state law requirements (Maddy Act). Only Walnut residents meeting the qualifications for each Commission are eligible. No person holding any other elected or appointed office can serve on a Commission and no person can serve on more than one Commission.  Planning Commissioners receive a stipend in the amount of $50 for each meeting attended.  Other City Commissions do not receive a stipend.

Qualifications and Applying
In order to qualify as a member of the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, or Senior Commission, a person shall be 18 years or older, a Walnut resident, a legally registered voter in the City of Walnut and such other qualifications as may be established by City Council policy.

Agendas
All commission meetings are held in the City Council Chambers located at Walnut City Hall, 21201 La Puente Road, Walnut, CA 91789.  Agendas are posted 72 hours in advance in City facilities, Walnut Library, and Walnut Post Office.  All meetings are open to the public and the public may address the commission during the oral communications portion of the meeting.
